Going up The Peak: Hong Kong's famous urban mountain
Take a 'peak' at the world's priciest properties
The famous Victoria Peak or simply, "The Peak", forms part of Hong Kong Island, and sets the green mountainous backdrop to the sprawling metropolis below. The limited residential land on its summit is considered to be Hong Kong's apex of elite property, and houses some of the most expensive real estate in the world!

The best views of Hong Kong
Over 7 million visitors ascend the 552m high mountain annually, so expect the main viewing deck, restaurants and shops to be pretty busy, especially when the weather is good. The Sky Terrace viewing platform is open until 11pm all year round and the historic tram runs up as late as midnight, which means you can experience the peak after dark to! It's a fantastic vantage point to witness the breathtaking spectacle of Hong Kong lighting up at nightfall.
Escape the urban madness
During daytime I suggest taking a walk along Lugard Rd - it loops around the tip of the peak, offering some spectacular views of the cityscape and surrounding islands. There are several points of interest along the way, like the serene Victoria Peak Gardens and old Gate Lodge. Many locals come up here to escape the megacity below for some much needed tranquility.

Working out
If you're into outdoor exercising, The Peak sports many well-maintained hiking/ fitness trails that stretch across the length of the mountain - these also offer some seriously stunning outlooks over the surrounding land-, city- and seascapes.
So, don't miss Victoria Peak!
It's absolutely true that no visit to Hong Kong is complete without making the journey to the pinnacle of its notorious natural landmark. Whether you take the iconic tram, a bus, taxi or choose to walk up Old Peak Rd - The Peak is an essential part of the city's character that simply cannot be missed!
